The Music Photo Gallery is thrilled to share its participation in Paris Photo, the premier international art fair dedicated to the photography medium. The event took place at the magnificent Grand Palais Éphémère in the heart of Paris from November 10 to 13th, 2022.
In the Main Section, TMPG proudly presented a captivating Solo Show by the legendary photographer Bob Gruen. This exclusive exhibition showcased, for the very first time, remarkable photos of iconic Andy Warhol Superstars such as Jackie Curtis, Holly Woodlawn, Candy Darling, and others. These images captured their rehearsals for Jackie's play "Vain Victory" and various events in the vibrant New York of the early 1970s.
Titled "Vain Victory - Women in Revolt" this thought-provoking exhibition presented a selection of exceptionally rare and previously unseen photographs. It included captivating documentation related to the groundbreaking underground hit "Walk on the Wild Side" written by Lou Reed.
Additionally, the exhibition featured a captivating collection of rare photographs showcasing the incomparable Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, David Bowie, John Lennon, and Bob Dylan. These iconic figures were at the forefront of the vibrant cultural scene of that era, shaping the music, fashion, and art movements with their groundbreaking contributions. The photographs provided a glimpse into their dynamic presence and enduring influence during this remarkable period in history.
By revisiting this remarkable body of work, we aimed to delve into the profound cultural transformation that shaped modern society during the early 1970s. It offered an opportunity to understand the radical impact of the feminist and transgender movements that emerged in the United States during this influential era.
